Saint-Liguori
Saint Liguori, also known as Saint Alphonsus Liguori, was an Italian bishop and theologian born in 1696. He founded the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer, commonly known as the Redemptorists, which focused on preaching and missionary work. He is recognized for his contributions to moral theology and his writings, which emphasize God's mercy and love.
He was canonized as a saint by Pope Gregory XVI in 1839 and is the patron saint of confessors and moral theologians. His feast day is celebrated on August 1st, and he is often depicted in religious art holding a crucifix and a book, symbolizing his dedication to faith and teaching.
