Saint Virgilius
Saint Virgilius, also known as Saint Virgil, was an Irish monk and bishop who lived during the 8th century. He is best known for his role in spreading Christianity in Austria and Bavaria. Virgilius was a scholar and is often credited with promoting education and the establishment of monasteries in the region.
He is also recognized for his contributions to the study of astronomy and geography. Virgilius is often associated with the legend of the Earth's shape, as he reportedly argued for a spherical Earth, which was a significant idea during his time. His feast day is celebrated on November 27.
