Saint Veronica
Saint Veronica is a figure in Christian tradition known for her compassion towards Jesus during His journey to crucifixion. According to legend, she offered Jesus her veil to wipe His face, which miraculously bore the image of His likeness. This act of kindness is commemorated in the Stations of the Cross, particularly in the sixth station.
Veronica is often depicted in art holding her veil with the image of Christ on it. She is recognized as a saint in both the Roman Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox Church, and her feast day is celebrated on July 12. Her story symbolizes compassion and the importance of helping others in times of suffering.
