Saint Serapion of Algiers
Saint Serapion of Algiers was a Christian martyr and a member of the Order of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mercy, also known as the Mercedarians. He was born in the late 13th century and dedicated his life to rescuing Christian captives from Muslim territories. His work primarily took place in North Africa, where he became known for his selfless acts of charity and bravery.
In 1240, Serapion was captured while attempting to free prisoners and was later executed for his faith. He is venerated as a saint in the Catholic Church, with his feast day celebrated on April 14. His legacy continues to inspire those committed to humanitarian efforts and religious freedom.
