Saint Maria Goretti
Saint Maria Goretti was an Italian girl born on October 16, 1890, in Corinaldo, Italy. She grew up in a poor farming family and was known for her strong faith and dedication to God. At the age of 11, she was tragically attacked by a neighbor, but she resisted his advances, choosing to protect her purity.
Maria died from her injuries on July 6, 1902, and was canonized by Pope Pius XII in 1950. She is celebrated as a martyr of chastity and is the patron saint of young women, victims of assault, and forgiveness. Her feast day is observed on July 6.
