Saint Margaret of Cortona
Saint Margaret of Cortona was an Italian saint born in 1247 in Cortona, Tuscany. She is known for her life of penance and devotion after a troubled youth, which included a relationship with a nobleman. Following his death, she turned to a life of faith, dedicating herself to God and helping the poor.
Margaret joined the Third Order of Saint Francis and became known for her charitable works and deep spirituality. She founded a hospital and was recognized for her mystical experiences. She died in 1297 and was canonized in 1728, celebrated for her commitment to faith and service.
