Saint Knud
Saint Knud, also known as Saint Canute, was a Danish king who lived in the 11th century. He is recognized for his efforts to promote Christianity in Denmark and is considered a martyr for his faith. Knud was born around 1042 and became king in 1080, ruling until his death in 1086.
He was killed during a rebellion while trying to assert his authority and strengthen the church's influence. Saint Knud is venerated as the patron saint of Denmark, and his feast day is celebrated on January 19. His legacy is preserved in various churches and historical accounts throughout the country.
