Saint John Neumann
Saint John Neumann was a 19th-century Catholic bishop known for his dedication to education and the immigrant community in the United States. Born in Bohemia in 1811, he emigrated to America in 1836 and became a priest in New York. He later served as the fourth bishop of Philadelphia, where he established a network of schools.
Neumann was a pioneer in promoting the Catholic school system, founding over 100 schools during his tenure. He was canonized as a saint by Pope Paul VI in 1977, recognized for his commitment to faith and service, particularly to the marginalized and underserved.
