Saint John Fisher
Saint John Fisher was an English bishop and theologian born in 1469. He is best known for his strong opposition to King Henry VIII's separation from the Catholic Church. Fisher was a prominent advocate for the Catholic faith and was appointed the Bishop of Rochester in 1504. His steadfast beliefs led to his imprisonment and eventual martyrdom in 1535.
Fisher was canonized as a saint by Pope Pius XI in 1935, alongside Saint Thomas More. He is celebrated for his commitment to the principles of the Catholic Church and is recognized as a martyr for his refusal to accept the king's supremacy over the church. His feast day is observed on June 22.
