Saint John Eudes
Saint John Eudes was a French priest born on November 14, 1601, in Ri, Normandy. He is best known for founding the Congregation of Jesus and Mary, also known as the Eudists, and the Sisters of Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd. His work focused on the spiritual formation of priests and the promotion of devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
Eudes dedicated his life to preaching and reforming the clergy during a time of great turmoil in France. He was canonized by Pope Pius XI on May 31, 1925, and his feast day is celebrated on August 19. His legacy continues through the religious communities he founded and his writings on spirituality.
