Saint Gertrude of Nivelles
Saint Gertrude of Nivelles was a 7th-century abbess and a prominent figure in early Christian monasticism. Born around 626 in what is now Belgium, she was the daughter of a noble family. Gertrude founded the Nivelles Abbey, where she became known for her piety and leadership, guiding many women in their spiritual lives.
She is often associated with the care of the sick and the poor, emphasizing compassion and charity. Saint Gertrude is also recognized as the patron saint of cats, and her feast day is celebrated on March 17. Her legacy continues to inspire many in the Christian faith.
