Saint Gallus
Saint Gallus, also known as Saint Gall, was a Christian missionary and monk who lived during the 7th century. He is best known for founding the Abbey of Saint Gall in present-day Switzerland, which became a significant center of learning and culture in the Middle Ages. His work contributed to the spread of Christianity in the region.
Gallus is often depicted with a bear, symbolizing a legend in which he tamed a bear that threatened his monastery. He is venerated as a saint in both the Roman Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox Church, with his feast day celebrated on October 16.
