Saint Eugene
Saint Eugene, also known as Eugene de Mazenod, was a French bishop and the founder of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate, a religious congregation dedicated to serving the poor and marginalized. Born on August 1, 1782, in Aix-en-Provence, France, he experienced a transformative spiritual journey that led him to dedicate his life to the Church and its mission.
Eugene was ordained a priest in 1811 and became the Bishop of Marseille in 1837. He worked tirelessly to revitalize the Catholic faith in his diocese and was known for his commitment to education and social justice. He passed away on May 21, 1861, and was canonized by Pope John Paul II in 1975.
