Saint Claude de la Colombière
Saint Claude de la Colombière was a French Jesuit priest born on February 2, 1641, in Saint-Symphorien, France. He is best known for his devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and played a significant role in spreading this devotion during his lifetime. He served as a spiritual director and was known for his deep spirituality and commitment to the Jesuit mission.
In 1676, Saint Claude was appointed as the confessor to Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque, who had visions of the Sacred Heart. His support and guidance helped her in promoting the devotion, which later became an important aspect of Catholic spirituality. He died on February 15, 1682, and was canonized by Pope Pius XI in 1929.
