Saint Clare
Saint Clare of Assisi was an Italian saint born in 1194. She is best known for founding the Order of Poor Ladies, later known as the Poor Clares, which was a monastic order for women. Inspired by the teachings of Saint Francis of Assisi, she dedicated her life to poverty, humility, and service to God.
Clare's commitment to her faith led her to live a life of strict austerity. She is often depicted holding a monstrance or a palm branch, symbolizing her devotion and martyrdom. Saint Clare was canonized in 1255, and her feast day is celebrated on August 11.
