This journey is often considered one of the earliest accounts of transatlantic exploration. Brandon is the patron saint of sailors and is celebrated for his adventurous spirit and faith. His feast day is observed on April 16th. Many places, including the Saint Brandon Islands in the Indian Ocean, are named in his honor, reflecting his enduring legacy in maritime history.
