Saint Brandon
Saint Brandon, also known as Saint Brendan, was an Irish monk and navigator who lived during the 5th or 6th century. He is best known for his legendary voyage across the Atlantic Ocean, which is detailed in the medieval text called the Navigatio Sancti Brendani. This journey is often considered one of the earliest accounts of transatlantic exploration.
Brandon is the patron saint of sailors and is celebrated for his adventurous spirit and faith. His feast day is observed on April 16th. Many places, including the Saint Brandon Islands in the Indian Ocean, are named in his honor, reflecting his enduring legacy in maritime history.
