Saint Bernadette Soubirous
Saint Bernadette Soubirous was a French peasant girl born on January 7, 1844, in Lourdes, France. She is best known for her visions of the Virgin Mary, which began in February 1858 when she was just 14 years old. During these apparitions, she reported seeing a lady in a grotto near the Gave de Pau river, leading to the site becoming a major pilgrimage destination.
In 1933, Bernadette was canonized as a saint by the Catholic Church. Her life and experiences have inspired many, and she is often associated with themes of faith, humility, and healing. Today, the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes attracts millions of visitors each year seeking spiritual solace.
