SS Savannah
The SS Savannah was a pioneering steamship launched in 1818, notable for being the first vessel to successfully cross the Atlantic Ocean under steam power. It made its historic journey from Savannah, Georgia to Liverpool, England in 1819, demonstrating the potential of steam technology in maritime travel.
The ship was 98 feet long and primarily used for cargo and passenger transport. Although it relied on sails for part of its journey, the SS Savannah marked a significant advancement in naval engineering, paving the way for future steamships and transforming international shipping routes.
