Rwenzururu
Rwenzururu is a cultural and political movement in the Rwenzori region of Uganda. It primarily represents the Bakonzo people, who seek recognition of their cultural identity and autonomy. The movement emerged in the 1960s and has been associated with the establishment of the Rwenzururu Kingdom, which aims to promote the traditions and rights of the Bakonzo.
The Rwenzururu movement has faced various challenges, including conflicts with the Ugandan government. Tensions have sometimes escalated into violence, particularly in the early 2000s. Despite these challenges, Rwenzururu continues to play a significant role in advocating for the rights and cultural heritage of the Bakonzo people.
