Ruben Dario
Ruben Dario was a Nicaraguan poet, journalist, and diplomat, born on January 18, 1867. He is best known for his role in the modernist literary movement in Latin America, which sought to break away from traditional forms of poetry. His works often explore themes of love, nature, and social issues, and he is celebrated for his innovative use of language and rhythm.
Dario's most famous collection, Azul, published in 1888, marked a turning point in Spanish-language literature. Throughout his life, he held various diplomatic positions and traveled extensively, influencing many writers and poets, including Pablo Neruda and Gabriela Mistral. He passed away on February 6, 1916.
