Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve
The Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve (RNVR) was a reserve force of the British Royal Navy, established in 1903. It allowed civilians to serve in the navy part-time while maintaining their civilian careers. Members of the RNVR were trained to support the Royal Navy during times of conflict and could be called upon for active duty when needed.
During both World Wars, the RNVR played a crucial role in naval operations, providing skilled personnel for various tasks. The reserve was disbanded in 2000, with its functions absorbed into the Royal Naval Reserve (RNR), which continues to support the Royal Navy today.
