Roundoff
Roundoff is a mathematical technique used to simplify numbers by reducing the number of digits while maintaining a value that is close to the original. This process is often applied to make calculations easier or to present data in a more manageable form. For example, rounding the number 4.67 to 5 makes it simpler to work with in everyday situations.
The most common rules for roundoff involve looking at the digit immediately to the right of the place value you want to round to. If this digit is 5 or greater, you increase the target digit by one. If it is less than 5, you leave the target digit unchanged. This method is widely used in various fields, including finance and science, to provide clearer and more concise information.
