Rotary Engines
A rotary engine is a type of internal combustion engine that uses a triangular rotor instead of traditional pistons. This rotor moves in an eccentric motion within an oval chamber, creating three separate combustion chambers. As the rotor turns, it draws in air and fuel, compresses the mixture, ignites it, and expels the exhaust gases, all in a continuous cycle.
One of the most well-known examples of a rotary engine is the Mazda Wankel, which has been used in various vehicles since the 1960s. Rotary engines are known for their compact size, lightweight design, and smooth operation, but they can be less fuel-efficient and produce more emissions compared to conventional piston engines.
