Rootes Group
The Rootes Group was a British automobile manufacturer formed in 1938, known for producing a variety of vehicles under several brand names, including Hillman, Sunbeam, and Singer. The company played a significant role in the UK automotive industry, especially during the post-World War II era, when it expanded its production and introduced popular models.
In 1967, the Rootes Group was acquired by the Chrysler Corporation, which aimed to strengthen its presence in the European market. Despite this acquisition, the brand struggled with competition and eventually ceased operations in the early 1970s, marking the end of an era for the Rootes Group and its associated brands.
