Roosevelt Dam
The Roosevelt Dam is a significant concrete arch-gravity dam located on the Salt River in Arizona. Completed in 1911, it was built to provide water storage for irrigation and to help control flooding in the region. The dam is named after President Theodore Roosevelt, who played a key role in its construction and the development of the Salt River Project.
The dam stands 357 feet tall and creates the Roosevelt Lake, which is the largest lake in Arizona. It serves as a crucial water supply for agriculture and urban areas, supporting the growth of communities in the arid Southwest. The dam is also a popular site for recreational activities, including fishing and boating.
