Rohillas
The Rohillas were a group of Afghan settlers who migrated to northern India in the 18th century. They primarily settled in the region of Rohilkhand, which is located in present-day Uttar Pradesh. The Rohillas were known for their military skills and played a significant role in the local politics of the time, often serving as mercenaries.
The Rohillas established a powerful state under the leadership of Ali Muhammad Khan in the mid-1700s. Their influence grew until they faced challenges from the Marathas and the British East India Company. Ultimately, the Rohillas' power diminished after the Battle of Buxar in 1764, leading to their integration into the broader socio-political landscape of India.
