Roger de Montgomery
Roger de Montgomery was a prominent nobleman in the 11th century, known for his role as a supporter of William the Conqueror. He was born around 1030 in Montgomery, a town in present-day France. Roger played a significant part in the Norman Conquest of England in 1066, where he fought alongside William at the Battle of Hastings.
After the conquest, Roger was rewarded with vast lands in England, including the title of Earl of Shrewsbury. He established several castles and contributed to the Norman influence in the region. Roger's legacy continued through his descendants, who held important positions in both England and Normandy.
