Rodrigo de Triana
Rodrigo de Triana was a Spanish sailor known for being the first person to spot land during Christopher Columbus's first voyage to the Americas in 1492. He was part of the crew aboard the ship Pinta and famously cried out "Land! Land!" on October 12, 1492, when he saw the island of San Salvador in the Bahamas.
De Triana's sighting marked a significant moment in history, leading to the European exploration of the Americas. Despite his crucial role, he did not receive the rewards he expected, as Columbus claimed the discovery for himself and his crew.
