Rodolphe Töpffer
Rodolphe Töpffer was a Swiss artist, writer, and educator, born on January 31, 1799. He is best known for his pioneering work in the field of comics and graphic novels. Töpffer created a series of illustrated stories, which combined images and text, laying the groundwork for modern comic strips. His most famous work, “Histoire de M. Vieux Bois,” is often cited as one of the first comic books.
In addition to his contributions to comics, Töpffer was also a notable caricaturist and a professor.
