Robert Lighthizer
Robert Lighthizer is an American attorney and politician who served as the United States Trade Representative from 2017 to 2021. Appointed by former President Donald Trump, he played a key role in negotiating trade agreements, including the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), which replaced the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).
Before his role as Trade Representative, Lighthizer had a long career in trade law and policy. He worked in various capacities, including as a deputy trade representative during the Reagan administration. His expertise in international trade has made him a significant figure in shaping U.S. trade policy.
