Robert, Duke of Normandy
Robert, Duke of Normandy (c. 1035–1134), was a significant figure in medieval history. He was the son of William the Conqueror and became Duke of Normandy after his father's death in 1087. Robert is known for his attempts to assert his authority over the duchy and for his involvement in the First Crusade, where he gained fame for his leadership.
Despite his noble lineage, Robert struggled with financial issues and lost control of Normandy to his brother, Henry I of England. His reign was marked by conflicts and challenges, but he is remembered for his contributions to the Crusades and the complex political landscape of 11th-century Europe.
