Rio-Niterói Bridge
The Rio-Niterói Bridge is a major cable-stayed bridge in Brazil, connecting the cities of Rio de Janeiro and Niterói. Opened in 1974, it spans approximately 13 kilometers (8 miles) across the Guanabara Bay, making it one of the longest bridges in the world. The bridge plays a crucial role in facilitating transportation and reducing travel time between the two cities.
Designed by engineer Eurico Gaspar Dutra, the bridge features a distinctive modern design with two main towers and a series of cables supporting the roadway. It is an iconic landmark in the region and is vital for both local commuters and commercial traffic.
