Richard von Mises
Richard von Mises was an Austrian-American mathematician and engineer, born on April 19, 1883, in Vienna. He made significant contributions to various fields, including applied mathematics, probability theory, and fluid mechanics. His work laid the foundation for modern statistical methods and the theory of random processes.
In addition to his mathematical achievements, von Mises was also known for his role in the development of aviation engineering and aerodynamics. He served as a professor at several universities, including the University of Berlin and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He passed away on July 14, 1953, in Istanbul, Turkey.
