Richard Neville
Richard Neville was a prominent figure during the Wars of the Roses, a series of civil wars in England during the 15th century. Born in 1428, he became the 16th Earl of Salisbury and was known for his political influence and military leadership. Neville played a crucial role in the conflict between the House of Lancaster and the House of York, switching allegiances at various points to secure power and land.
He is often referred to as "the Kingmaker" due to his ability to influence the throne's succession. His actions helped elevate Edward IV to the crown, but his fortunes changed when he fell out of favor. Ultimately, Neville was killed in the Battle of Barnet in 1471, marking a significant turning point in the Wars of the Roses.
