Revised Standard Version
The Revised Standard Version (RSV) is an English translation of the Bible that was first published in 1952. It aimed to provide a more accurate and modern language version of the scriptures while maintaining the literary quality of earlier translations. The RSV is widely used in both academic and religious settings.
The translation was produced by the National Council of Churches and is based on earlier texts, including the American Standard Version and the King James Version. The RSV has undergone revisions, leading to the publication of the New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) in 1989, which further updated the language and included gender-inclusive terms.
