Rev. W. Awdry
Rev. W. Awdry was an English clergyman and author, best known for creating the beloved children's series, Thomas the Tank Engine. Born on June 15, 1911, he began writing stories for his son, Christopher, during his recovery from measles. These stories eventually evolved into a series that has captivated generations of children.
Awdry's first book, published in 1945, introduced readers to the adventures of Thomas and his friends on the fictional Island of Sodor. Over the years, he wrote 26 books in the series, which have been adapted into various television shows, films, and merchandise, making Awdry a significant figure in children's literature.
