The respiratory tract is a system of organs and passages that allows us to breathe. It starts at the nose and mouth, where air enters, and continues down through the throat, or pharynx, into the trachea. From the trachea, air travels into the lungs through smaller tubes called bronchi. This pathway is essential for delivering oxygen to our bodies and removing carbon dioxide.
Inside the lungs, the air reaches tiny air sacs called alveoli, where the exchange of gases occurs. Oxygen from the air passes into the blood, while carbon dioxide is expelled. This process is vital for our survival, as it keeps our cells functioning properly.
