Resin Transfer Molding
Resin Transfer Molding (RTM) is a manufacturing process used to create composite materials. In this method, a dry reinforcement material, such as fiberglass or carbon fiber, is placed in a mold. Then, a liquid resin is injected into the mold, saturating the reinforcement and hardening to form a solid part.
RTM is popular in industries like automotive and aerospace due to its ability to produce complex shapes with high strength and low weight. The process allows for better control over the resin distribution and can lead to reduced waste compared to traditional methods like hand lay-up.
