Renaldo "Obie" Benson
Renaldo "Obie" Benson was an American singer and songwriter, best known as a member of the Motown group The Four Tops. Born on June 14, 1936, in Detroit, Michigan, he contributed to the group's success with his distinctive voice and songwriting skills. Benson co-wrote several of their hit songs, including the iconic "Reach Out I'll Be There."
In addition to his work with The Four Tops, Benson was involved in various musical projects throughout his career. He collaborated with other artists and continued to perform until his passing on July 1, 2005. His contributions to music have left a lasting impact on the Motown sound.
