Reed Grass
Reed grass refers to a group of tall, perennial grasses commonly found in wetlands and along riverbanks. These grasses thrive in moist environments and can grow several feet high, forming dense stands. They play a crucial role in stabilizing soil and providing habitat for various wildlife species.
One of the most well-known types of reed grass is Phragmites australis, often called common reed. This species is recognized for its feathery flower heads and is used in erosion control and as a natural filter for water quality. Reed grass is also important in traditional crafts and construction materials.
