Red squirrel
The red squirrel is a small rodent native to coniferous forests in Europe and parts of Asia. It has a bushy tail, reddish-brown fur, and large eyes. Red squirrels primarily feed on seeds, nuts, and fruits, playing a crucial role in forest ecosystems by helping to disperse seeds.
These squirrels are known for their agility and ability to climb trees. Unlike the larger gray squirrel, which has become more common in some areas, red squirrels are often found in more remote habitats. Their populations are threatened by habitat loss and competition from gray squirrels, leading to conservation efforts in various regions.
