Reactive Power
Reactive power is a type of electrical power that does not perform any useful work but is essential for maintaining voltage levels in an electrical system. It is measured in volt-amperes reactive (VAR) and is primarily associated with inductive loads, such as motors and transformers, which require reactive power to create magnetic fields.
In alternating current (AC) systems, reactive power helps stabilize the voltage and ensures that the system operates efficiently. While it does not contribute to the actual energy consumed, it is crucial for the overall functionality of electrical networks, allowing devices to operate smoothly and preventing voltage drops.
