Rance River
The Rance River is located in the Brittany region of France. It flows approximately 22 kilometers (14 miles) from the town of Dinan to the English Channel, near the city of Saint-Malo. The river is known for its tidal variations, which can reach up to 13 meters (43 feet), making it one of the most significant tidal rivers in Europe.
The Rance River is also home to the Rance Tidal Power Station, which was the first tidal power plant in the world, built in the 1960s. This facility harnesses the river's tidal energy to generate electricity, contributing to the region's renewable energy efforts. The river's scenic beauty and historical significance attract many visitors each year.
