Radiation Therapy is a medical treatment that uses high doses of radiation to kill or damage cancer cells. It is often used to shrink tumors before surgery or to eliminate any remaining cancer cells after surgery. This therapy can be delivered externally through a machine called a Linear Accelerator or internally via Brachytherapy, where radioactive sources are placed inside or near the tumor.
The goal of Radiation Therapy is to target cancerous tissues while minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissues. Patients may experience side effects such as fatigue and skin irritation, but many find it an effective part of their cancer treatment plan.
