RS-24 Yars
The RS-24 Yars is a Russian intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) designed to enhance the country's nuclear deterrent capabilities. It is a three-stage missile that can carry multiple independently targetable reentry vehicles (MIRVs), allowing it to strike several targets simultaneously. The Yars is known for its mobility, as it can be launched from both silos and mobile platforms, making it harder to detect and intercept.
Developed by the Moscow Institute of Thermal Technology, the RS-24 Yars entered service in 2010 and is part of Russia's strategic missile forces. It is a modernized version of the earlier Topol-M missile, featuring improved range and accuracy. The Yars plays a crucial role in Russia's nuclear triad, which includes land, sea, and air-based nuclear forces.
