R. C. Bose
R. C. Bose, or Ranjan Chandra Bose, was an influential Indian mathematician and statistician known for his contributions to design theory and combinatorial mathematics. He was born on January 19, 1901, and made significant advancements in the field of experimental design, particularly through the development of Bose–Chaudhuri–Hocquenghem codes.
Bose's work laid the foundation for various statistical methods used in agriculture, biology, and industrial experiments. He is also recognized for his collaboration with C. R. Rao, another prominent statistician, and for his role in establishing the Indian Statistical Institute in Kolkata, which has become a leading institution for statistical research and education.
