R/V Atlantis
The R/V Atlantis is a research vessel operated by the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. Launched in 1997, it is designed for oceanographic research and exploration. The ship is equipped with advanced technology, including laboratories and equipment for deep-sea exploration, allowing scientists to study marine environments and ecosystems.
The R/V Atlantis is also known for its role in supporting the Alvin submersible, which can dive to depths of over 4,500 meters. This capability enables researchers to investigate underwater geological formations, marine life, and other phenomena, contributing significantly to our understanding of the ocean and its processes.
