Quranic Surahs
Quranic Surahs are chapters of the Quran, the holy book of Islam. There are a total of 114 Surahs, each varying in length and covering different themes, such as guidance, morality, and spirituality. Each Surah is composed of verses called Ayahs, and they are recited in prayers and during personal reflection.
Surahs are categorized into two main types: Meccan and Medinan. Meccan Surahs were revealed while the Prophet Muhammad was in Mecca, focusing on fundamental beliefs and the oneness of God. Medinan Surahs, revealed later in Medina, address social laws and community issues, reflecting the growing Muslim community's needs.
