Queen Sophie of Denmark
Queen Sophie of Denmark was born on July 28, 1775, as Sophie Frederikke of Mecklenburg-Schwerin. She became the queen consort of Denmark when she married King Frederick VI in 1796. Sophie played a significant role in the cultural and social life of Denmark during her husband's reign, supporting various charitable initiatives and the arts.
Sophie was known for her intelligence and strong character. She was involved in the establishment of several institutions, including the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. After her husband's death in 1839, she continued to influence Danish society until her own death on June 29, 1836.
