Queen Marie of Bavaria
Queen Marie of Bavaria was born on September 12, 1818, in Munich, Bavaria. She became the queen consort of King Ludwig I of Bavaria when they married in 1842. Known for her beauty and artistic sensibility, she played a significant role in promoting the arts and culture in Bavaria.
Marie was also a patron of various cultural institutions and supported the construction of notable buildings, including the Bavarian State Opera. After her husband's abdication in 1848, she lived in relative obscurity until her death on May 21, 1889, in Bavaria.
